Message From Father Paul

Greetings my dear Parishioners and School families,

I would like to take a moment as pastor of Corpus Christi Parish to address each of you personally. First, I would like you to know that I am praying unceasingly for you and your families.

One of the questions that repeatedly arises during this period of pandemics is: Where is God? My faith tells me that God is working in all the people all over the world who are working to combat the coronavirus. God is in the doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel who are caring for those with the disease. God is in the researchers toiling in laboratories. God is in everyone who is working to help others be safe. Wherever there is compassion, God is active. God is with us.

Throughout the Scriptures, we find instances of trying times which God’s people endured and, for most, found a stronger and closer walk with God and one another. This is not a time to be frightened or anxious. St Paul reminds us to “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” (Philippians 4:6). We must remember that the Lord is in charge and that He, in His mercy, is watching over us. Rather than fright, it is imperative that we be strong in our faith and trust Him, through prayer and determination, to be patient and trusting during this ordeal. We as a Parish community have been called upon to be strong in our faith, trusting Him and working toward protecting one another against this dreaded virus. As you know, all the services and activities for our Parish and School are cancelled until such time as it is found safe. Cancelled not because our facilities are unsafe; or that there is a lack of trust or compassion among us; but rather, to protect us from the potential of receiving or being infected by the COVID-19. God has blessed us significantly as a Parish and School community and it is our responsibility, our imperative, to protect one another, and in particular, our seniors and our children. As Catholics, we need to spend time with the Lord. Please be assured of my prayers for each one of you during this challenging time!
